March 22 - World Water Day

General Assembly of the United Nations in  1992 set the date 22. March for International Water Day, reminding us of the importance of water resources every year for over three decades. The resolution to raise awareness about the problem of the lack of drinking water, quality and hygiene requirements, as well as the need to protect resources was passed in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, within the framework of Agenda 21. The date does not only have a symbolic meaning, individual factions of the United Nations and non-governmental organizations determine each year specific themes in which the International Water Day is carried. In the context of these topics, various studies are being developed, which make it possible to look at the importance of water resources from several angles. This year's theme is called "Accelerated Change", which is a message for each of us as every change requires an individual approach.

The Slovak Republic has long been one of the leaders in the field of drinking water supplies, currently we are in second place within Europe, only neighboring Austria has larger reserves of underground water. Although we use drinking water even for flushing and technical purposes in our domestic conditions, its availability in the world is not a matter of course. The latest studies by the World Health Organization indicate that 1.4 million people died as a result of poor water quality and hygiene. The lack of drinking water in the world can also be expressed statistically - every fourth person on the planet does not have, or only has limited access to, a quality water source. On a global scale, this is roughly 2 billion people.

During the World Water Day, various events are also organized for the general public, for example cleaning wastewater or dams, various services focused on the quality of drinking water are also offered free of charge.

To the activities of the World Water Day can join any individual, and not only on March 22. We can save water during daily routine activities, for example by shortening the time you shower, not brushing your teeth under constantly running water, or by pouring exactly the right amount into your glass water, how much we drink.

The company Regada also contributes to ensuring the supply of high-quality drinking water from springs to households, and in the section of water pipes, where it supplies top sets consisting of different types of fittings and electric servo drives. Most often, they are representatives of the categories of knife, wedge or soft-sealing sliders, ball valves, sluice gates and the like.
